\"\"<\/a>In the last post<\/a> I started exploring audio expressions with Corel Painter.<\/p>\n

Moving a little further into that territory I wanted to share how to set up Audio Expression using color sets.\u00a0 Its a pretty simple step that can give you some interesting color effects.<\/p>\n

First off you will need Corel Painter 2018 (or 2017).<\/p>\n

Open it and open an image that you like.<\/p>\n

I’m going to use this painting of the 19th century impressionist painter Claude Monet<\/a> by the contemporary impressionist painter Alex Kanevsky<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>I\u00a0 think it is fitting and it has interesting colors.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

To paint with audio expressions and color sets you will need to do a few things…<\/p>\n

Start by going to the “Colors and Layers” tab.<\/p>\n

then click on the “Color Set Libraries” tab<\/p>\n

click the icon in the bottom left hand corner and hit “New Color Set”<\/p>\n

then “new color set from image”<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>pick a name and number of colors you want in your color set.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>I recommend something over 100.<\/p>\n

click “ok” and your color set should appear in the color set libraries tab.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

click on a color swatch to select the new color set.<\/p>\n

Pick a particle brush from the Brush Selector Panel at the top left: \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Once you are using a particle brush go to and select\u00a0Window\/Audio Settings Panel<\/p>\n

then click “enable audio input”<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

You may need to mess with the Strength and Range a bit.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Afterwards go to and select Window\/Brush Control Panels\/ Color Variability.<\/p>\n

In the Color Variability Tab select “from Color Set” and check<\/p>\n

“Color variability from Audio Input”.<\/p>\n

Now you can play some music from an mp3 and start painting with<\/p>\n

Audio Expressions from a color set.<\/p>\n

Experiment and see what you can come up with.<\/p>\n
